**Q:** Seems have full access (editable) by everybody. Is that right? Seems like it should be editable only after login.
**A:** Correct. Dokuwiki is default open and editable by ALL. If you'd like to change this, log in with the account you created. You should have an Admin button at the top.

Hit Admin, then Access Control List Management. Then select the root level there in top left

The permissions are a bit weird, but that piece "Higher permissions include lower ones" sorts that out. An admin will have the far right radio button, a NOTHING will have far left. I had to create a user called @user, and give them EVERYTHING. Then give @ALL only Read. Oooo I also need to shut down new registrations.

You can check your own user and access from Admin > User Manager. I'm "drew" and my groups are admin, and user.

go to Admin > Configuration Settings. It's a long page, probably 6 screens long or so. I did a ctrl-F to find "regis" and that will run you down to "disableactions" Disable Dokuwiki Actions, tick the Register box, like I've done here.

**Q:** Admin button not showing up

**A:** I found a FAQ that said to make authentication changes in conf/local.php and not in conf/dokuwiki.php. So I added the
$conf['useacl']      = 1;   and the   $conf['superuser']   = 'admin'; to the local.php.dist file then removed the .dist and the admin button popped up on login!
